Prof. Shixian Zhai receives the NSFC Young Scientists Fund to work on the impacts of atmospheric aerosols on ozone
Atmospheric heterogeneous chemistry has profound impacts on ozone. This study will combine detailed aerosol and ozone observations and the state-of-the-science atmospheric chemistry model GEOS-Chem to elucidate aerosol-ozone interactions under a fast-changing environment in China. This study will provide scientific support for clarifying the interactions between fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and ozone, and it will contribute to formulating effective joint-control measures for PM2.5 and ozone air pollution.
